Can I apply for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship if I have a double nationality : one European and one non-European ?
In this case you will be considered as a non-European student and as a consequence you are eligible for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship.
I have an old TOEFL test do I have to re-take it?
We will accept older TOEFL test, but it cannot be older than 5 years.
I have taken my master degree at an English speaking university (English speaking country) do I have to take the TOEFL test?
No, if your university is English speaking (not only some programs but the entire university) you don’t need to take the TOEFL test, just send in an official certificate from your university stating that the official language is English.
I forgot to send in (upload) my documents; will my application still be processed?
Yes, only the complete applications will be processed. That means that you have to complete the online application including all required documents (in digital format only) in time. Original documents in paper will only be required later on in the process if your application is selected for a fellowship.
I will not have finished my Master of Science before the application process closes, can I still apply?
Yes as long as you will finish before the program starts. Please send in a supporting document from your university stating the expected date for completing your Master of Science. Note that if you don’t finish before the program starts then you will lose your spot in the program.
I have an computer science degree at the bachelor’s level and an MSC in other fields, am I eligible?
To enroll on the EMJD-DC program you should have a Master of Science in the field of computer science or related to distributed computing in the M.Sc. level of the European LMD system (300 ECTS credits). Excellent grades from courses in distributed systems, operating systems, networking, programming languages, computer architecture, and theory of computing are expected.
I do not have a TOEFL or IELTS certificate, but have followed courses in English. Do I meet the language requirements ?
Proving your English level is possible in several ways, not only by TOEFL or IELTS test certificates. Check carefully the language requirements on Admission requirements.
Are there any exceptions to the “12-month rule” applicable to Category A doctoral candidate fellowships?
Yes. Former Erasmus Mundus Masters course scholarship-holders are exempted from the 12-month rule (for the time that they spent in Europe studying for an Erasmus Mundus Masters course) and may apply for category A fellowships.
How to handle letters of recommendation from referees (e.g. professors, employers)?
We request two letters of recommendation from professors of the most recently attended higher institution or from employers if relevant. Please include email addresses and, if possible, telephone numbers of the professors.
These two letters can be either uploaded by the applicant, or sent by the referee directly to the program coordinator (firstname.lastname@example.org). In addition all the referees included in an application will be emailed to collect feedback in a web application.
