When and where?
The spring event for 2017 will take place at UCL in Brussels, Belgium, from May 30 (morning) to June 1st (noon). The meeting room is located at the UCL campus in Woluwe (not in Louvain-la-Neuve!).

What is happening?
The Spring Event meeting is organized by the Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorate Program in Distributed Computing once a year to provide the program participants as well as external researchers an opportunity to meet and present their work in the field of distributed computing.
The 2017 meeting will consist of
- lectures by invited speakers;
- poster sessions by all participating PhD students (see the information on poster sessions);
- short papers for presentation by PhD students (optional; see the call for submissions);
- a lot of time to discuss and network.

How to get to the meeting location and to the social events?

- We will have guides in the museum. The tour starts at 16:30 and the museum closes at 18:00.

Accomodation
EMJD-DC PhD students should coordinate with their local professors (thus decentralized) to prepare the trip as soon as possible to save travel costs and accomodation.
A block of 20 rooms has been reserved until April 28th, 2017 at the Brussels Centre Sainte Catherine, street Joseph Plateau n°2 – 1000 Brussels.
Accomodation in Brussels are very sought after, please be kind to fill in the booking form and send it directly to H1454-re2@accor.com. After April 28th the reservation will no longer be guaranteed.

Call for Submissions
The spring event will host selected presentations by both EMJD-DC PhD students and PhD students from other universities. The selection of presentations will be based on a submission of a short paper, 1-2 pages in IEEE double-column format, 10pt, letter paper. The submission can be on planned, ongoing or recently published research work in the area of distributed computing. Submissions have to be done via https://hotcrp.info.ucl.ac.be/se/
Deadline for submissions is May 16, 23:59:59 PST.
Note that, independently from a submission for presentation, all PhD students participating to the event have to bring a poster to the poster sessions (see below).
Poster sessions
All PhD students attending the event particpate to the poster sessions. The poster should describe your PhD work, that is its research questions, (expected) results, status, plans, etc. Description of intended work (for new students) and work in progress is welcomed.
Registration
To register please go to the registration page on the UCL web site.
Important: The registration procedure (unfortunately) consists of two steps:
- Register for the event: Enter the requested information in the fields “Family name” to “Do you need a certificate of attendance?”. Press the first “Submit” button on the page (below the Yes/No option; not the one at the end of the page).
- If you are an EMJD-DC student: Pay the registration fee. Enter the identity and billing information and press the second “Submit” button (at the end of the page).
If you are a Grascomp student: Thanks to financial support by Grascomp, we can offer free admission for 20 students. Therefore, you should only register for the event at the moment (first step of the registration procedure). We will notify you later if a payment (around 50 Euro) is needed. Note that the social event and the social dinner are not included and have to be paid separately.
